Who we are

The Steves

After 19 years running the Lake Lemon Marina, the Schell family decided to retire from the Marina biz and have passed the torch onto new owners. We, the new owners, are a father/son duo– Steve (Sr.) and Stephen (Jr.) — who have spent many seasons at Lake Lemon and have come to love it as much as all of you. We are very thankful to be inheriting and now to build on a solid legacy of hospitality and community service on the Lake.

Big Steve retired at the end of 2021 from his demolition / environmental abatement business after over 20 years and built his new home right down the street from the Marina in 2019. He runs the day-to-day and is the heart and soul of the Marina. Stephen is an attorney most days and an entrepreneur but will be assisting Big Steve as much as possible to make the Marina as great for you as it can be.

The Marina is blessed with great associates from Tyler on the Work Barge crew, to Karen in the office and Lighthouse Café, and Hester who helps us keep this place tidy.

Why they chose this property

Because we have been coming here with our family for decades and love the place! It doesn’t get better than living the “Lemon Life™” on Lake Lemon nestled between Bloomington and Brown County, Indiana. We want to share this bucolic getaway with more families by providing great accommodations right on the Lake.

What makes this property unique

Lake Lemon is a hidden gem that straddles Brown County and Monroe County, an equal short drive to Nashville and Indiana University, Bloomington. Our lake is friendlier, less crowded, and features spectacular wildlife features like the Little Africa Wildlife Refuge and is just as close to Bloomington as, and a better alternative to, overrun Lake Monroe. The Marina has been serving the community since 1957 where it has been a full service marina and resort ever since. Lake Lemon Marina is the only full service marina serving Lake Lemon and we do our best to provide everything you would need to have a great day on the lake.
